Seven Days After, the name is all about the vibe, a feeling that you felt after something had happen, either sad or happy, how it changed a person’s whole life, what it felt like after a week, which explains the mood on some of the songs.
The song writings for this band are focused on how to generate and twist the mood with the arrangement of beat, guitar sound and vocal.
After tireless hour of jamming and practice sessions, the band finally recorded their 1st self-titled EP in 2005 at Streamline Studio in Kuching. The music can be described as experimental/rock/emotion and influenced by variety kind of band that can be found in personal interest of each person in the band
Seven Days After was formed in mid 2004. This band originated from Kuching, Sarawak. At first, the band consisted of which came from 3 different bands. Saif from the band Decibel Pixies; Terry, Ezam and Randy from Nocturne and Dani from Farewell to Ashtray Girl. 2005 was a new year for the band, where they became a 6-piece band and it was the debut of Seven Days After latest edition, with Adel from the band An Eternal Summer on guitars. After a few shows in Kuching, Terry left the band to further his studies in 2005.
The journey of the band never stop there, it keep moving on and with all that’s lost and found they merge constantly into Kuching music scene to be accepted and spread their ideas through the meanings and melody. Their strategy is not being in one spot yet the try to make their move to upper precipice and hold on tight for opportunity that they can grab which help them strengthen their existence in enjoying music as part of their way to be in this life.
Quoted from the band interview
“we never actually label ourselves, we play what we like”.
Seven Days After member line-up: Saif, Ezam, Aidil, Randy & Dani
“The whole song writing processes are sharing of thoughts and ideas of all the band members at the moment. Every each one of us has his own idea of how the band should sound like so it’s like finding the middle of a tangled rope. Everyone is pulling each end of the rope. We give each other space to creatively express ourselves.”
“We never wanted to restraint our idea of making music. This is not possible if we stick to one genre. Progress is inevitable but we don’t mind what the people label us.”
They are free to do so. That’s how they define our music in their own way. Looking at the band members each has a different musical back ground. Now, the 5-piece band has steadily made a name for themselves by playing in every gig that they could get into, showing everyone what they are capable of.”
